Over the past year, Ransomware has proven to be an increasingly lucrative business for cyber-criminals and has become very widespread that victims have resorted to paying to get their data back. Recently the Dell Sonicwall Threat Research team has received reports of yet another ransomware called Petya. Petya is no different than standard ransomware, but instead of just encrypting files it overwrites the system’s master boot record (MBR) effectively locking the victim out and rendering the machine unusable unless payment is made.

Partek utilizes Dell SonicWALL products with their Comprehensive Security Gateway suite. This hardware and subscription based security combination provide state of the art protection against the latest ransomware threats, including Petya.
