Alberta Recycling electronics fees are being reduced
Since the inception of Alberta’s electronics recycling program in October, 2004, Albertans have recycled over 3.7 million units of computer equipment and televisions. The environmental fees collected on the sale of electronics has ensured over 70,000 tonnes of metal, plastic and glass generated through the processing of this material is kept out of landfills and recycled into new products.
The program has evolved since 2004 and effective August 1st, 2011, the environmental fees will be changed to the following:
- Desktop Computer (CPU) & Server: $4.40
- Monitor: $6.00
- Laptop, Tablet PC & Notebook Computer: $1.20
- Printer: $4.80
- Television:
- Less than 19″ screen: $4.00
- 19″ to less than 30″ screen: $10.80
- 30″ to less than 46″ screen: $18.80
- 46″ and larger screen: $24.00
